Birchbox ‘Make it count’ January 2022 box

Good morning friends and Happy Monday!

Now, I don’t mean to be a negative Nancy but I’ll tell you now this review isn’t a positive one.
I was less than impressed with Birchbox’ ‘Make it Count’ January edition.

All items bar the Turtle Bag are ‘delux minis’, therefore I only have the prices of each product full size

Real Chemistry Fresh start Foaming Cleanser 15ml (Full Size RRP £24)
This cleanser is horrid. I used it as instructed, on different patches on my face as thought some how I may be applying it wrong. The cleanser failed to foam, and quickly became sticky and tacky to the touch.
Straight in the bin unfortunately

Green frog – Natural Shower Gel 50ml (Full Size RRP £9.95)
Biodegradable bottle, vegan and Cruelty free. This shower gel lathered up well, and left my skin clean and soft. The verbena and bergamot scent floral earthy scent isnt my go to but is something different

Klorane Anti Pollution detox Shampoo with Aquatic mint 25ml (Full Size RRP £8)
Possibly the smallest shampoo sample I’ve ever recieved?
This detox shampoo cleanses hair of impurities and polluting particles; I hadnt tried a ‘Anti pollution’ shampoo but is pretty underwhelming. The Aquatic mint wasn’t too pleasent, not a fresh sweet mint but more of a toothpaste mint scent.

My hand looks abnormally huge, but this bottle was miniscule!

Arrow – Under eye brightening serum in shade medium ( Full Size RRP £17)
A Clean and Vegan Birchbox in house brand which is what we like to see, but a tiny 3ml sample? This serum brightens and moistures the under eyes, whilst giving a healthy glow.

Balance me – Beauty sleet hyaluronic mist 10ml (Full Size RRP £20)
I haven’t yet tried this properly as the spray pump doesn’t work which is a little frustrating. I dabbed a little directly onto my hand, a
Which gave a bit of warmth and a powerful lavender scent – if the pump worked I’d love to use this product.

Turtle Bags (Long handle) RRP £10
https://www.turtle-bags.com/
‘Made in India, organic, super strong, natural fibres, biodegradable, ethical and practical’
The long handles were a little too long for my liking, as my shopping was almost dragging along the floor, though I did tie knots into each handle which shortened them and gave me extra grip by doubling up the handles.
This bag can carry more than meets the eye, jam packed with fruit and veg, easy to store and wash, easily my favourite product of the box.

This box is a little hit and miss, I can’t say I’m overly impressed. Disappointing for the first box of the year, hopefully in the coming months we’ll recieve better quality and full sized products

Roccabox ‘Clean up Your Act’ January 2022

Good evening friends,

And welcome back!

My first review of 2022 is bought to you by Roccabox.
‘Clean up you act’ box contains 5 ‘super clean skin and body’ beauty products worth over £81 and one ‘extra treat’.

First up …

Grüum Pür Gentle Moisturiser (Full Size) RRP £8
A lightweight, suble scented Face and neck moisturiser packed with sage, camomile and green tea, perfect application before make up, or at the end of the day on a clean face.
Also paraben, sulphate and petrochemical free

Ameliorate – Transforming body lotion RRP £6 (Deluxe mini)
This lotion has a terrible scent, reminded me of a instant fake tan I used to wear when I was around 18/19 years old. It left my skin soft enough but itchy and a little irritable, was thrown in the bin shorty after

Paradoxx Repair Game Changer Hair Mask RRP £15
First off I love the packaging, this mask can be applied on dry, towel dried or wet hair. I scooped this onto wet hair for 10 minutes after shampooing. Although the earthy scent isn’t partially to my liking, my hair was extremely soft and tangle free once rinsed.
Packed with kelp seaweed, avacado oil and Ginseng, to strengthen, hydrate, condition and take frizz. Love it!

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel (Deluxe mini) RRP £16
I was impressed with this cleanser. A lovely soft rose scent, this gentle gel to oil texture cleanser easily mented away my make up with a few circular motions.

Caprea Shield Serum with Vitamin B3 (Full Size) RRP £36.90
I’ve applied 4/5 drops each morning the past couple of days before moisutiser and make up. This soaks well into the skin without leaving a greasy layer.
This serum is packed with Niacinamide, which helps your skin grow a barrier which retains moisture and protects against UV damage.

*EXTRA TREAT*
KOKO Coconut Milk
I’m a fan of coconut milk, but not keen on the flavour of this brand, however Coconut is an acquired taste, if I wasn’t a fan I wouldn’t be too impressed to receive this.

Overall I was happy with this month’s box, however there was definitely room for improvement.

Roccabox is no longer a ‘Beautybox’, as over the last 12 months the products are predominatly skin care based, which to me is disappointing.

Since September 2021, the monthly price increased (including delivery) from £13.95 to £18.95.

‘The reason for this price increase is so it gives us more scope to work with brands of all sizes. We are about beauty discovery so you will still be discovering the best brands around’

For the price increase I would of hoped for a bit more variety, a few eyeshadow palette, more lip scrubs, lip tint, coloured eyeliners, make up bags, hair accessories… something that brings a little more excitement.

What did you think of this months box?

Good morning friends,

If you’ve already read my Roccabox blog this morning, then apologies for repeating myself, but I feel I need to explain my blog post. I feel like I’m ripping myself apart at the moment, and don’t want my posts to look thrown together, they’re not, I just can’t manage to keep my drafts together long enough to publish.

As I said before…To save my sanity, and time to script another half a dozen drafts, I’ve decided to give a break down of what was in each of the boxes/bags, the prices and my over all rating on the box. Not exactly how I would normally review subscription boxes, but there’s no harm in mixing it up now and then

Birchbox April 2021

Good evening friends,

Today we’re playing catch up with beautiful boxes, if you’ve read my previous blogs you’ll know that I’ve been struggling the past couple of months and has taken its toll on my blog too, apologies all!

A few months late but I didn’t want to miss out on sharing my thoughts with you all. Let’s get into it, first up is Birchbox’s ‘Future is now’ April edit

Stasher silicone reliable bag RRP £12.99 (available in green, yellow and orange)
What a genius idea? This silicone bag is reusable, easy to clean, durable and great for the environment.

This multi use, airtight bag can be used as a make up bag, or a toiletries bag, or even for sandwich’s, soups and meals, as it can be stored in the fridge, freezer and is microwave safe.
I gave this to a friend as she spends alot of time at the beach – perfect to seal any snacks away when you don’t fancy a side of sand.

Green frog Botanic RRP £4.95
Argan & Rose Oil Shampoo bar

I’ve been using the Garnier shampoo bars for the last couple of months and have loved them.
I’ll admit none of them smell as good as this! The UK population alone throws away 520 millions shampoo bottles every year.

We can do better.

This vegan, plastic free sample bar gave my long locks 7 or 8 wash’s, I’d recommend and no doubt buy it again.

Algologie Hydra Replenishing Booster (Sample size recieved Full size RRP £33)
This Gelified serum hydrates skin, and is packed with hyaluronic acid and natural marine active ingredients) gentle around the eyes, this has become part of my night time routine

Huygens Organic Night Repair Oil (Recieved deluxe mini Full size RRP £31)
I feel like Alice in wonderland.

The repair oil is filled with Coconut and hazelnut oils to repair skin, lavender and rosewood oils to help regenerate and argan oil to protect the skin at night. A few drops of this and the next morning my skin was so soft and nourished, with a healthy glow

The beauty crop Fabulous Flocking Lashes RRP £9 Full size
I haven’t opened this mascara yet as have a few on the go, but a waterproof mascara enriched with argan and jojoba oil to lengthen, thicken and nourish is always, this will be at the top of the list of the next to try.

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow illuminator Full size RRP £25.50
I’ve tried this product a few times previously. The BB cream helps to smooth skin and even’s skin tone.

I can’t see I’ve noticed a huge different but it is still a good BB cream. Lightweight and non sticky

What did you think of April’s Birchbox/Bag? Have you tried any of the products, or tempted to purchase them?

Roccabox, subscription box

Roccabox March 2021 Tried and Tested

Good morning friends,

Late last week I received my March Roccabox ‘Birthday Edition’

The box arrived in its traditional pick packaging, I was expecting something a little more colourful, shimmery or celebratory as it was the birthday edition, but no matter, it was jam packed with goodies!

L’Occitane – Almond Milk Concentrate received 50ml RRP £12.50 (Full size 200ml RRP £42)
You know I love a mini…
I have a face and body cream on the go already, so have used this smoothing and firming cream on my hands. I can’t say that my skin has felt firmer after 4 days, but they have certainly been soft. This moisturizer is cruelty free, non greasy, and soaks in well.
I have a little eczema on my hand that is quite sensitive, but the cream was kind to my skin and didn’t leave any redness or itchiness.

Monuskin Professional Skincare – Illuminating Primer SPF15 Full sized £36
I do my best to remember to apply suncream daily, but like most, can often forget.
This SPF Primer is rather thick, but that’s a positive, one pump is enough for your whole face, and soaks in well. I would say £36 for a low SPF Primer is an insane amount to pay. My make up sat well for the day, however I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money as you could easily buy a similar product for half the price.

Anatomicals – Mint Hand Sanitizer & Mint Hand Cream RRP £5
Well it’s part of our day to day, so why not?
These slender tubes are perfect handbag or even pocket sized. They thankfully don’t smell like hand sanitizer, more so the dentist, which is quite a a nice scent in my opinion. Clean, sweet and fresh.

BeautyPro Hair Therapy Deep Conditioning Hair Mask RRP £5.95
This hair mask is to be ‘worn’, after hair is shampooed, rinsed and lightly patted. Twisting wet hair into a conditioning bag is alot more awkward than I expected. The bag stayed on my hair for a full 30 seconds, I retwisted, applied and secured with a hair tie.

After 20 minutes I rinsed my hair, and man, my locks feel Luscious!
The mask may be a little fiddly and heavily scented, but I’d definitely recommend this.

Marc Jacobs Beauty – Velvet Noir Mascara Deluxe sample size RRP £13.80 (Full size RRP £24)
This deluxe mini is a good size, with my favourite type of brush, big and fluffy. One coat divided and thickened my lashes well, with no smudging or flakiness through out the day.
A little on the pricey side bit definitely a decent mascara.

Bonus Product – ISOCLEAN RRP £1
I’ve run out of my make up remover, so this one was a nice treat. Not too much to say about this product, it did have a strong hair spray scent, but cleaned the brushes well, and thankfully didn’t leave a scent on them once rinsed.

Overall I loved this month’s box, practical but pampering with a little bit of everything.

What do you think of this month’s box, are there any products you’d like to try?

Birchbox, subscription box

Birchbox February 2021

Good afternoon friends,

This month we recieved another wonderful Birchbox, only a few months in and I’m extremely impressed with the products recieved.

This months 5 products came in a make up with the option to choose from the same bag in 2 colours, Blue or orange.
I opted for the bright blue – the bag is a decent size with a sturdy zip, plenty of room as a large make up bag, or wash bag for the gym, beach swimming pool or a weekend away.

Birchbox Accessories
Natural Green Jade Super Polished Gua Sha Full sized RRP £12
The first item I opened was a Facial massage tool to used over moisturizer, facial oil or cream
Depuff skin.
Similar to a jade roller, this Gua Sha can be smoothed over the skin to increasing blood flow for lymphatic drainage. Easy to clean and store in its own little pouch.
If this is one you’re not keen on, it would make a lovely gift.

Huygens Bois Rose Regenerating Face Cleanser 30ml received (RRP £22 full sized)
This face cleanser has a strong but not over powering lavender scent. The cleanser is gentle on your skin, and is Vegan and animal cruelty free.

Sensory Retreats Divine Eyes RRP £21
This warming mask can be used to unwind, or as a overnight black out mask. On the back of the mask are details of a free 85 minutes music session to accompany your relaxing evening, a nice little touch to get the most of the product.

MCoBeauty Tango Cheek & Lip Tint (Full size recieved £12)
although they are practical, I don’t often reach for a tint. The shade is orangy, not overly keen but it is easy to blend, I expect it’ll be nice to try in the summer once my skins a little sun kissed

Soaper Duper
Zesty Sicilian Lemon Body Wash
75ml received (RRP £9.99 full sized)
Cruelty free and vegan 95% Naturally derived body wash fills the room.
I’ve used the vanilla pod body wash in this brand and adore it. This is quite a thin consistency, but a little goes a long way

Once again a lovely box/bag from Birchbox.
No make up this time around, unless you found the cheek and lip tint, but as I’ve said before, at the moment, who needs it?

The weather is still all over the show and a little extra skin care is welcomed.

YourBathbox January 2021

Good afternoon friends,

Another month, another YourBathbox.

If you’ve read my reviews before, you’ll know that for almost a year now I’ve been delighted with every single box I’ve received. Honestly, I never knew you could recieive such a fantastic box to never disappoint.

This month’s winter box is filled with seasonal delights.

Igloo bath bomb RRP £4
How adorable? This Soft floral bomb had a hidden surprise in the middle. As I attempted to flick some bubbles off of my hand, instead half of the bathbomb flung off, no matter, I found the surprise. My bath became a beautiful shimmering lilac

Penguin Bathbomb RRP £3.75
What a dear sight this one is. This sweet lemon meringue scented fella will be waddling and fizzing in my bath this weekend

Snowflake Soap RRP £4
My favourite scent by far, it sends me back to my childhood. I think I’ll put this one by for the spring and summer months

Ice Crystal Bathsalts RRP £3.50
These bath salts don’t smell like Pomegranate at all, instead they have comforting masculine but soft scent, if that makes any sense?
These would be perfect for a late evening bath to set you for a good night’s sleep

Lavender Calm Balm RRP £9.99
This balm is perfect to roll onto your wrist after a bath to aid you in a deep relaxing sleep
My sleep has improved the past couple of months, with a few uncomfortable nights here and there. Anything to help me to relax is welcomed

2x Assorted Bath Fizzers RRP 99p
These sweet floral scented fizzers will be out by, again ready for spring.
