Day 26 – Boxing Day Sales
I’m not normally one to do the boxing day sales but the girls wanted to go into Newport to have a look at so I thought I might as well have a bit more festive family time.
There wasn’t really anything in particular that I needed so the night before I had a look at Superdrug Marks and Spencer’s and Boots online because the last thing I want to do is to go into a hectic shop and walk round in circles.
If you didn’t want it in the first place, then you’re not saving money.
I had a rough idea of what I wanted, and got better deals than expected.
I met the girls at 10am sharp at Boots, and my goodness you’d think they were giving away stock!
I passed dozens of women with armfuls of gift sets. You’d think they were buying for every family member and acquaintance they’ve ever had!
Although I knew what I wanted to buy, the store was heaving, and we shuffled around like fish in a tin with the occasion ‘scuse me’, ‘sorry’, ‘thank you’, and a few rude grunts from women who should of stayed at home and shopped online. It’s going to be busy, you will get squished and pushed. Just grab your bargins and get on with it!
Each of my Boots products were half price.
Alas! I managed to get to the soap and glory section. The first item I bought was The duo I bought contained The righteous Body Butter and The flake away body Polish.
I managed to pick up two of the same gift sets, as they are perfect handbag and travel sizes.
These gift sets were reduced to £2.50 each.
Next I picked up two of the Disney, Mad Beauty Princess face masks. I didn’t know if they would still have them in stock, but funnily enough they had my two favorite Princess’s left. I picked up the Aurora, lavender, relaxing and calming mask, and The Jasmine ‘A whole new world’ antioxidant green tea, refresh and revitalise mask.
I’d wanted to buy these previously but they’re so overpriced for a gimmicky face mask. At £2 each that’s more acceptable, and I thought I would grab those especially as I’m such a massive Disney.
Like I said, I’d had a look the night before at gift sets, and a few Laura Ashley and Joules products caught my eye, not for myself but for my mum and mother in law for mother’s day. I believe it’s always worth looking ahead, and to buying gifts when they are at a good price. I bought two of the sets at £5 each.
I was looking for a the Sleek nude lipkit but it was sold out. Instead I found a gorgeous mixed metal and nude lip kit by Profusion Cosmetics.
The kit comes with a matte lip cream, matte lip liner and a metal lip cream gloss.
These products have a fantastic wear, and don’t dry out your lips. If I’d of known they were this good I would of grabbed a couple of other shades.
I think this may be my New Year’s Eve lip look.
I then made my way to Superdrug, where the shelves were almost bare. I noticed that there was a advent calendar push to the back of the shelf by itself and it was a shocking 99p!
That price for a 12 day Advent calendar? Why not?
The Flutter products were simple yet pretty. The shades were neutural in warm and cool brown and peachy tones.
Who doesn’t need another hand cream? This lightly scented cream was the perfect size for my handbag, and perfect price at 49p!
I purchased a lovely dove gift set for myself. The set contained the go fresh pomegranate and lemon body wash, exfoliating body scrub which is also pomegranate seeds and shea butter scent and then it came with a body scrub mitt. This was only £3
This was my only purchase from Marks and Spencer’s. I had wanted to buy a few larger candles but they didn’t have any that I liked the look of.
These glittery red tea lights caught my eye. I’m like a magpie, anything shiny!
The scent is rich and warm, and fills the room beautifully.
The last and final purchase was by accident. Who could forget Primark? A tanned bag, left hanging on a rail for a bargin price of £5, discounted from £15. Can one have too many handbags? Never
What did you purchase in the Boxing Day sales?
