Board IOW… a different spin on Halloween

Good evening friends and Happy Halloween!

This evening my boyfriend and I spent our Halloween at a new cafe, ‘Board IOW’, The Board Game Cafe.

My partner dressed up as a mummy, and I fashioned a last minute witches costume. The hat and broom helped massively! It was all good fun!

(Pumpkin spiced latte … yes, I have been converted)

For just £8 a ticket per person, your ticket include’s a Halloween themed drink, a snack platter and 3 hours of gaming!

We had an incredible time, playing numerous new games that we’d never heard of. A man dressed as a vampire arrived alone, so we invited him to play with us. That’s just another wonderful feature with this cafe, they offer social nights where you can join tables of others and play with strangers, why not hey?

It’s a brilliant way to interact and to get to know like minded people.

In the day, the cafe also had a child friendly event, which was Harry Potter themed. Wizards, witches and Muggles were all welcome, where they may play a variety of Harry Potter Games or take part in activities and crafts. The owners explained that it had been so popular that they will be hosting a Harry Potter themed event again this coming Saturday.

Although the cafe has only been open a couple of months, it is extremely popular.

The owners and staff are absolulty lovely which is always an added bonus. Everytime I’ve visited I always recieve a warm welcome, and everyone is so keen to offer help regarding picking a game to play… since there is over 125 to choose from. Often a member of staff will walk you through the game so that you’re not spending your time reading through instructions and getting puzzled.

This cafe is truly unique, and another way to spend your days and evening with friends, family, and loved ones

They also have an alcohol licence, so if you want a few drinks but not fancy hitting the bars or clubs then this is the place to be!

I’ve been a few Times with friends for a couple of hours of game play, and some delicious nibbles, but also met a friend for brunch, with no games but a good old chit chat session.

With a menu that’ll keep all the family happy, a wide range of games, cocktails and the most incredible hot chocolates and milkshakes, theres no question of why this has become a favourite place for Islanders to spend their time.

Glossybox, Hauls

Glossybox October 2019

Good evening friends, and happy Glossybox day!

This month we were sent either a Angel or Devil addition of the box. I recieved the box I crossed my fingers for… The devil box.

First off this box is gorgeous. I do love the original baby pink, but this box just screams Kaya!

I have recieved 5 full size products, and an ‘extra treat’

Whittard of Chelsea – Sticky Toffee Pudding White Hot Chocolate – RRP £2.00

I have never tried a hot chocolate of that description! It sounds sickly, but delicious!
And the packaging is awesome. Day of the dead themed. I love it. I was thinking about a glass of wine in the bath, but what the hell, bring on the hot chocolate!

And a 20% off voucher when you spend over £25 in store or online.

McoBeauty – Eye define crayon liner – Full size – RRP £15.00

I know that some people arent crazy about receiving black eye liners in beauty boxes, and to be fair, I agree at times. But when you recieve one that’s the perfect consistency to what you use/want, then bring it on!
My only question for this liner is that even though its soft, which I love, on the box under directions it states ‘ if the tip of the liner feels a little blunt, sharpen it with the built in sharpener’. What does that mean? Because I cant see one? I might just be being silly?!

STY London – Devil Velvet Touch Palette – Full size – RRP £15.00

Could they of made a more autumnal looking palette? I think not! These colours are amazing, With a mix of shimmer and matte, these shades are just delicious for autumn!

Lord & Berry – Maximatte Lipstick Crayon – Devil Red – Full size – RRP £15.00

Man, this is creamy! I do love a good red statement lip. This soft and chunky lip crayon helps to accentuate the perfect statement look.

Que Bella beauty – Plumping Gold Peel off Mask – Full Size – RRP £2.49

Yes yes yes. How glamorous is this mask? This plumping, exfoliating and tightening mask contains real gold powder and organic rose water.

Bubble T Cosmetics – Devils dust Foaming Bath Powder – Full size – RRP £4.99

This’ll be my first time using a foaming bath powder.
Did anyone ever used to use those little disposable bath Pearl’s? If you know what I mean then you’ll know the scent, and this is exactly what this smells like. The scents described as fruity, but I’d say it’s a soft rose.

I havent heard of any of the brands before, but love them all. The last couple of months theres been a few products that I was underwhelmed and unsure about, but this box is perfectly themed, and quite possibly, my favourite Glossybox so far!

Glossybox, you did good!

Did you purchase a glossybox this month? If so, which one did you recieve?

Bake off, Halloween Special

A very good evening and warm welcome to my Halloween Post!

This year we decided to celebrate Halloween a little differently. In past years we’d have a Halloween party, fancy dress (of course), and a night out drinking.

This year was slightly more relaxed but no doubt just as entertaining.

We also watched the brilliant, BettleJuice at the cinema for a one off screening. My friend told about about this a few weeks ago and I booked the tickets there and then. You can’t beat a classic. We also dressed up at home, whilst drinking heaverly and watching Halloween films… What more could you want?

So, this evening… We mixed it up a bit.

The final of The Great British Bake off aired last night, so I decided that Halloween night, we would have a get together and watch in suspense on channel 4 catch up.

I asked each guest to bring their home baked goods. The delicious dishes included, shortbread, Welsh cakes, 2 varieties of sausage rolls, sweet potato pie and rice crispy cakes. It was quite the fest!

And yes… I gave a handshake

I went a little rogue with the recipe as couldn’t find one I liked so made it my own. I made sweet and sticky orange buns for the occasion. And not to toot my own horn, but they were bloody tasty!

Countless cups of tea and great company made my Halloween perfect.

How was your Halloween and do you have any traditions?
