Blogmas – Superdrug Black Friday Haul

Good evening friends,

The week leading up to Black Friday, I received dozens of emails, pop ups and Instagram posts with deals. I couldn’t avoid it.

I had no intention to spend, I was staying strong. Then the thought crept in, I could buy now, and use in the future?

A few months ago I decided to have a spend free month, that didn’t go as plan, instead, I’ve decided to have a No spend 2021 (upcoming blog to explain), and to, where possible use only cruelty free products.

In order to top up on the basics and not get carried away, I looked through my make up drawers to check what products I was low on/what is due to expire in the next couple of months, and made a list

Here’s what I bought –

Superdrug Studio London Natural Eyeshadow Palette
Original Price: £6.00/Sale price: £3.00

Perfect shade 12 pan palette for all seasons, night and day.

Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick

Rose Wood 21, Original Price: £2.39/Sale price £1.66

I was originally suckered in my the name, any PLL fans here? But the shade is just beautiful, creamy and long lasting.

B. Flawless Matte Foundation W4 & N4
Original Price: £2.50 each/ Sale price £1.73 each

I purchased these in 2 shades as I’m a little lighter in the winter months, and for that price, why not take your pick.

e.l.f. Expert Liquid Liner Jet Black
Original Price: £3.00/sale price £2.08

I haven’t tried this liquid liner before, but the reviews were fantastic, and is one of the most inexpensive liquid liners I’ve seen.

Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer Original Price: £3.99/ sale price £2.76

I’ve never seen such a big dofer applicator for a concealer, this will give much better coverage and less waste as one or two swoops will do the job.

Revolution Pro Microblading Precision Eyebrow Pencil Choc Original Price £3.99 /Sale price £2.76

I haven’t tried the Revolution brow pencil before, but it’s less than half the price of my normal eyebrow pencil, and almost the same shade.

Revolution Darling 122 & Heart race 113 Crème Lip & Hustle 119 Crème Lip
Original Price: £3.20 each/Sale price £2.22 each

I’m a sucker for nude and pink shades, who isn’t? All 3 are beautiful, but Hustle is a great show for NYX Abu Dhabi.

Superdrug’s own brand products are now proudly cruelty free.

I did find some absolutly great deals with other brands, but whilst googling if they were cruelty free, the animal testing pictures that popped up, broke my heart and I couldn’t bring myself to pick up a bargain for the expense of an animal.

Subtotal exc. savings£30.97
Promotional Savings- £8.59
Total inc. savings & redemptions £22.38

1×12 pan eyeshadow palette
1xEye brow pencil
1xLiquid liner
2xFoundations
1xConcealer
1xLip stick
3xLip cremes

Almost a full face of make up for under £23, not bad going at all.

What did you buy in the Black Friday sales?

Blogmas – Next Advent Calender

Good morning friends,

I tried so hard to not open this advent calender until December 1st, but after a wonderful day I was on a high and couldn’t resist.

This 24 day advent calender costs £30, is full to the brim of beauty treats, and is available directly from the Next website.

Beauty Advent Countdown Contains

5x 10ml Next fragrances

1x 30ml face moisturiser

1x 30ml body lotion

1x 30ml body wash

1x 30ml body scrub

1x30ml hand cream
1x pink lipsick
1x mini bath fizzers
1x nail file
2x nail polish
1x pink lipgloss
1x black mascara
1x spiral hair bobble
1x full size Nx eyeshadow quad
1x full size Nx bronzer
1x eyeshadow brush
1x lip balm
1x lip scrub

The most beautiful advent calender I’ve seen. This parcel unwraps by bow, two large doors, and then 24 individual mini doors.
Perfect for a Christmas gift for any wonderful women in your life.

I couldn’t help but Swatch the eye shadow quad – with 3 Christmas shimmering shades and a stunning cranberry purple, I can’t wait to create a seasonal look.

A lipscrub is a necessity, especially in the winter. Not one that I expected to receive in a advent calender but it just makes sense.

The only item’s I won’t use in the advent calender are the hair bobble and one of the perfumes.

Of all of the advent calenders I’ve purchased/seen so far, this is the one I would recommend for the price, the quality and the contents, its ideal for someone who isn’t looking for a calender that is too make up or skincare heavy, but with the perfect balance.

Blogmas – W7 Advent Calender

Good morning friends,

Today we’ll be looking at the W7 Advent Calender.

I didn’t realise W7 sold advent calenders, but after purchasing, I discovered they have for the last 4/5 years.

There have been mixed reviews, but here’s my thoughts on it.

The 24 day advent calender was available by dozens of sites, prices ranging between £12-£25, depending on where you purchase it.

I bought mine from Amazon for £12, with an additional £3 P&P, (which works out at around 62p a day) bargain!

The make up is pretty basic in looks and quality, but overall decent.

The Beauty Blast contains:

1 x Mini Big Lash Mascara (Black)
3 x Mega Matte Lip Liner (Red, Pink and Nude
3 x King Kohl Eyeliner (Black, Brown and Blue)
4 x Mini Glam Gloss (Glam Bam!, Super Star, So Hollywood and Too Hot!)
5 x Mini Mega Matte (Smudge, Happy, Hasta La Vista, First Class and Star)
1 x Mini Glowcomotion Highlighter
1 x Mini Honolulu Bronzer
1 x Mini Cheeky Flusher
1 x Mini Banana Dreams
1 x Mini Beam Me Up Illuminator (Volcano)
3 x Loose Glitter Pigment Pots (Super Silver, Gilded Gold and Pretty Pink)

Here’s a closer look at a few of the products.

Firstly, how freaking adorable are these miniature lipglosses?

Perfect size for a small clutch bag, purse, to keep in your drawer in the office,or in the car, when you need a quick bit of glam.

The top 4 glossed are shimmery, whilst the bottom 5 leave a strong but soft shade that lasts for hours.

Perfect trio of Lip liners, for any preference.

Black and brown liners will always be present in my make up stash, but this beautiful navy may give me the confidence to branch out a little and create a blue smokey eye.

You don’t often get a mascara in a advent calender, which in all honestly was one of the selling points.

The wand is thick, and gave me long defined lashes with just one coat.

Is the glitter multi purpose? For make up or nails? Honestly, who cares? It’s Christmas, and we all need a bit of glitter in our lives, now than ever!

Honalulu bronzer – I’ve seen this as a dupe for the Benefit Hoola Lite Bronzer. I didn’t believe it until I tried it, but it’s pretty spot on, and a fraction of the price!

Cheeky flusher – I think that might be a bit much for highlight or bronzer but what a stunning eye shadow.

Glowcomotion is a gorgeous all around soft gold for your cheeks or eyes.

This advent calender will kit you out for a full face of make up and multiple looks (keep an eye out for this at a later date)

I was also pleasently surprised that there were no fillers – not nail file, hair band, or outdated eyeshadow applicator in sight.

What did you think of the calender and would you buy it

Blogmas – Mad Beauty Minnie Mouse Advent Calender

Good morning friends,

Each year I treat myself and buy a beauty advent calender.

This year there were dozens of options to choose from, and from early as September to purchase them.

I’d been back and forth between advent calender, but the 1st one that had caught my eye was from Superdrug.

The last 3 years I’ve bought The Mad Beauty Disney advent calenders, they’re simple with pretty packaging and reasonably priced. Each year they’ve retailed at £20, before selling at £10, then eventually reduced to £5… Which is when I buy it.

£5 for a 12 day Advent Calender? That works out around 42p per day, you’d be mad not to.

The Minnie Mouse Advent Set contains

  • 1x body wash
  • 1x body lotion
  • 2x bath salts
  • 2x bath fizzers
  • 2x lip balm
  • 1x hand cream
  • 1x body puff
  • 2x nail file

This Minnie advent calender is a lovely gift or treat for yourself, to leave you feeling pampered and put together

Autumn/Fall Haul 2020

Good evening friends,

What a wet and windy, yet wonderful autumn night.

Autumn/Fall for me is all about Comfort, your home and clothes become a little cosier, embracing the dark nights and chill in the air, and having some much needed downtime.

Here’s a few of my autumn essentials.

Home

Beanies Coffee 50ml £1.99 each (Lidl)

Until last year I never understood the hype of ‘Pumpkin Spiced Lattes’ – and then I got hooked.

I’m not really one for flavoured coffees, but they give that extra warmth this time of year.
Whilst in my local Lidl, I spotted the Beanies Pumpkin Spice instant coffee.

Oh my! It’s been just over a week and I’ve finished a jar. I went back to grab another jar, and picked up Cinder toffee, Caramel popcorn, Nutty hazelnut, Irish cream

Candles £3 each – Gingerbread Cookie and winter Spice (B&M)

I’m all about candles, each season brings a different scent. This year I hunted high and low for spiced candles. Finally I found them in B&M, and how cute are they? And yes, due to the many unsuccessful trips trying to find them, I picked up 3 of each.

Fashion

Charity shop
George cream short tench coat (New with tags) £5
BM Collection heavy blush pink coat £5

I, like many, love blacks, browns and deep reds for this season, I decided to mix up it up and look out for a few softer shades, and hit the jackpot.

The cream trench coat is a must, simple and chic, but the pink coat, she’s my favourite. Pairing it with a pink handbag, I’d be giving off Umbridge vibes, but I’m okay with that!

Charity shop – Next Knitwear £2 New with tags

I love a dusty Rose pink, especially with black jeans or LBD

Lily Morgan £5 (everything five pounds.com)
A simple black cotton jumper with glitter trim jumper, jazzes up the one of the must haves for this season. This jumper is so warm and fuzzy, it’s become a new favourite

Old Navy £5 (everything 5 pounds.com)

I bought this long cream jumper about 3 sizes to big. It is huge and just hangs off me, it’s so soft and just the right thickness. Not really one to wear out as it is so baggy, but at home with some fluffy socks is just perfect.

Pep&Co £12
This Hound tooth dress is perfect for winter. Possibly even a comfy Christmas day look?

Pep&Co £6
And once I saw the dress, I just had to buy the skirt!

Beauty

Vaseline Intensive care Cocoa Radiant
Body lotion 400ml £3.99

I have dry and sensitive skin, with eczema which flairs up more in the cooler months. This lotion helps to sooth and moisturize my skin without leaving it stinging or feeling greasy.

Poundland Lipscrub ‘Mint to be’ £1

Nothing worse that chapped lips, especially when rocking a dark lip. Pounlands Lipscrub smells, and tastes great, and works just as well as names brands.

NYX Midnight Muse £3.99

I picked up this lipstick thinking it was black, but it is actually a deep navy. Not a shade I’ve worn before but definalty one I’ll be trying this season.

Maybelline Vivid matte Liquid £7.99 (TK Maxx)
20 matte shades for £7.99, that equals 0.39p each. Bargain! Plus all the shades are beautiful, the bright purples and orange may be a little tricky to pull off but I’ll do my best!

Keep an eye out for my vivid matte Lip challenge later this month

What autumn goodies have you purchased recently? And what does Autumn/fall mean to you?

feel unique

Feel Unique Pick n Mix June 2020

Good evening friends,

This weekend I recieved my second Feel Unique Pick n Mix

Each month, you can choose from hundreds of samples, to select 5 items sent to you for just £3.99, including P&P
Each month you can claim back your £3.99 to use on the following month, how incredible is that?

Thalgo Collagen Cream 3ml RRP £55 50ml

The first item I picked was from a brand I had selected last time.
Over the past couple of mornings I’ve used about a half pea size under my eyes, which has left them soft, and minimal creasing when I’ve put on a light layer of make up.

Elemis gentle rose exfoliator 3ml RRP £35 50ml

This gentle expholiater is perfect for your face. I think this would be a little too soft for my liking to use on my body, but for my face, it left my skin feeling clean, refreshed and smooth

UpCircle Organic Facial Serum with Coffee Oil 1mo RRP 30ml £14.99

This serum is supposed to firm your skin whilst boosting collagen and preventing dark circles.
The scent is beautiful but extremly strong.
I smoothed this into my skin, and wow.
Afterwards my skin felt nourished, hydrated, and not at all greasy or slick.
Upcircle products are all vegan, paraben free, no palm oil, cruelty free, 100% recyclable packaging, natural and affordable.

What more could you want?

Trilogy Cream Cleanser 2ml RRP £23.50 200ml

I used this late night after having a heavy eye make up day. A little of this on my face and neck leaves skin soothed with a fresh and conditioned.
£23 is a little more than I’d like to spend on a cleanser but I may treat myself one day?

Tory Burch My First Fragrance 1.5ml RRP £55 30ml

This is a extremly subtle floral and citrus based fragrance. I was hoping it would pack more of a punch, as 3 or 4 spray hardly lasted the day.
This is just one of the reasons I love mini fragrances, it’s always best to test before you buy, especially when it’s almost £60 for a 30ml bottle.

Have you tried Pick n Mix before? What products will you be looking out for?

Glossybox

Glossybox June 2020

Good evening friends,

I’ve had this sat in my drafts for a while, and keep on forgetting to actually finish this post.

My bad.

June’s Glossybox had me excited, this happens few and far between as I’ve found Glossybox has lost its charm, and am only signed up for one more box of my year sentance/subscription.

Any who, June’s theme was set around world of beauty.

ModelCo Liquid Metal Eyeshadow Shade Champagne RRP £15

We recieved a similar liquid shadow last December, but this liquid shadow is a staple for every make up bag.

A quick and easy glamorous look with one swoop. With buildable layering, perfect for a top up when you’re on the go.

Huda beauty Life Liner – Very Vanta RRP £18

If you know me, or actually, if you’ve ever seen a handful of pictures of me, you’ll know I love eyeliner. A smokey smudg of soft liner or a cat eye, it’s been my go to for years.

A dual eyeline is a must have, but funnily enough I’ve never managed to find one that is just right.

Both products applied exactly as intended and were long lasting.

This all sounds great doesn’t it?

Before I explain, I’ll introduce the next product.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company – Make up Removing Cloths (pack of 2) RRP £7.99

First things first. Animal print again? Why Glossybox?

Make up Removing cloths that will wipe away all traces without any soap, oils, remover? No way.

Of course I was sceptical but intrigued, but these bad boy’s proved me wrong! Running the cloth under warm water, my foundation, eyeshadow, lipstick and even mascara wiped off without having to scrub my skin too hard, or leaving me with panda eye.

The Huda liquid liner on the other hand. Well, she had other ideas.

In the above photo, all other make up and mascara had been removed but the liquid liner would not budge, not a smudge.

I scrubbed my eyelides for as long as I could bare.

I poured a little make up remover on a cotton pad. Nothing.

Third times a charm.

Eventually the remainder of the liner came off with a wet wipe. My eyelids felt violated! If you want a 48 hour eyeliner, then this ones for you!

Lasplash Cosmetics – Brush set RRP £15

I’m not 100% sure how often you should throw away make up brushes, even though I regularly clean mine, I normally dont own a set for more than 18months. Is that just me or do others get a little grossed out by them?

I wouldnt think a set from a subscription box would be that great, but these brushes are pretty impressive.

These setting and defining eye shadow brush were dense but soft enough for the perfect application.

Beautaniq Beauty – Guardian Angel Eye Mask RRP £5

My skin is awful at the moment. I have no idea if its hormones, the lack of sun and possibly stress? But I am adoring any and all skin care

These eye masks didnt stick very well, they stayed on for around 5 minutes, all whilst I sat still, trying my best to keep my face still.
Once peeling these off, my skin felt a little tacky but with no difference. How disappointing.

Overall, air am happy with the box. I have mixed feeling regarding the Huda beauty liner, and am pleasantly surprised with the make up remover cloths.

Have you tried any of these products before? And what did you think of them?

Glossybox

Tried and Tested Glossybox May 2020

Good afternoon friends,Yesterday I received my May Glossybox, Wild Edition.

Today I will be writing my product reviews.

Oh! K SOS Printed Sheet Mask RRP £4

From the moment I ripped the seal, I couldnt stop laughing.

I think sheet masks are fantastic, especially those that have a character or animal on them, as we know, we will never ever look like what is on the packet.

It didnt just make me laugh, it made my skin insanely smooth.

Wow.

There was a bit of excess serum in the packet which I rubbed into my neck and shoulders.

The mask fit particularly well, and didnt slip off my face at all.

I also love, most likely without intention, that’s there are eyebrow shaped patches above the eyes.

Where can I buy 10 more??

EOS Sphere Lip Balm RRP £6.50

I used this balm through out the day, and was happy enough with it. I do prefer a balm with a tint if colour, but otherwise this products was nice enough although nothing special.

Mudmask – Hairmask, Scalp Treatment and Miracle Shampoo RRP £21 75ml

I have long thick hair, so I am thankful that we recieved a decent sized tube, and I wasnt shy about it

This 3 in 1 hair treatment left my locks smelling and feeling fresh and clean. And the talcum powder smell is extremly subtle which I’m grateful for.

Steve Laurant Wild Side Eye Shadow Palette
RRP £31

I thought I would, and I was right. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this palette.

Super pigmented, minimal fall out, I can make use of every single colour there for there is no waste, and they are long lasting.

Here are 3 quick and easy looks I created with this palette (accompanied by a a few NYX Lip cremes)

Smokey and Sultry. (Lips, NYX Ginger Snap)

Sunkissed Bronzed. (Lips, NYX London)

Metallic Retro (Lips, NYX Istanbul)

I think the last look might be my favourite. I can’t say I regularly wear pink and silver, but, somehow, it just works?

My only issue is if I were to get on with this and like to repurchase, £31 for a 9 pan pallette?

We’ll have to wait and see.

Stargazers – Glitter Eyeliner Pencil RRP £2 (shade Peach)

I attempted to use the eye liner with my bronzed look but the pencil is just complete rubbish.

It has a crumply consistency, which creased into the skin, and as mentioned yesterday, one swoop, and it disappears.

Over all I am extremely happy with this months box, especially since I feel we all need a little pick me up in this current situation.

I hope you’re all staying safe and well.

Glossybox

Glossybox May 2020

Good afternoon friends,

Today we are unboxing the May’s Glossybox, the ‘Wild thing’ Edition.

There were 2 varieties this month, Zebra and Leopard.

I recieved the zebra box, I would of preferred the gold box, but in all honesty, I cannot stand animal print.

It’s just not for me.

I always re-use my boxes as they’re a good size, pretty, and sturdy. So I will pass this box along to a animal print lover.

Today I’ll be blogging about first impressions of the products, check back in tomorrow for my tried and tested post.

Oh! K SOS Printed Sheet Mask RRP £4

I am loving sheet masks recently! This one had me all excited as I saw a little panda at the top of the packaging, so thought it was a panda mask.I was wrong.

It’s a dalmatian mask, which is still fun, but not exactly in the ‘wild thing theme’.

Either way I’m sure I’ll look terrifying.

EOS Sphere Lip Balm RRP £6.50

I’m all about hair, skins and especially lips being soft, smooth and nourished.
Another lip balm is always a bonus.

This small, chunky but funky lip balm is easy to apply without getting your fingertips sticky.

This has a subtle sweet smell and taste.

By the way, does it remind me of Miley Cyrus ‘We cant stop music video’, people went crazy over them after that video!

Mudmask – Hairmask, Scalp Treatment and Miracle Shampoo RRP £21 75ml

This 3 in 1 Mudmask has gotten some fantastic reviews.

I shall wash my hair with it tonight and let you guys know how I get on with it.

Repairs/Strengthens/Hydrates/Moisturizes/Dandruff control

It really does sound like a dream, the only thing that throws me off is that it
Smells like talcum powder.

I have no issue with this scent… but it will smell as though you’ve tried to dry shampoo/talc your roots?

Steve Laurant Wild Side Eye Shadow Palette
RRP £31

The colours in the palette are stunning.

My perfect palette for a variety of soft smokey eye looks.

I appreciate that the palette includes a mirror, improve when its practical as well as pretty.

I’m so excited to try this out and get glammed up. It’s been a while.

Stargazers – Glitter Eyeliner Pencil RRP £2 (shade Peach)

Well, last time I was this underwhelmed by a Glossybox product was when they sent me toothpaste.

At least that was practical.

With No pride, festivals, Eurovision, Coachella… where exactly am I wearing this?

This also frustrates me because there are different varieties of the boxes which contain much more expensive products.

Now it’s not all about the money, but, instead of the eye pencil retailing at £2, you could recieve a Skin chemist
Rose quart lip plumper (balm and gloss) RRP £29.99

A item retailing a huge £27.99 more than this tacky orange glitter eye pencil.

Also, ONE swipe of the finger over this swatch and you get this.

How disappointing.

Overall, I am happy with the contents of the box, minus the ridiculous eyeliner.

What do you think of this box?
