Birchbox 2021 ‘Dance to your own Rhythm’ and ‘Express yourself’ subscription boxes

Good morning friends,

If you’ve already read my Roccabox blog this morning, then apologies for repeating myself, but I feel I need to explain my blog post. I feel like I’m ripping myself apart at the moment, and don’t want my posts to look thrown together, they’re not, I just can’t manage to keep my drafts together long enough to publish.

As I said before…To save my sanity, and time to script another half a dozen drafts, I’ve decided to give a break down of what was in each of the boxes/bags, the prices and my over all rating on the box. Not exactly how I would normally review subscription boxes, but there’s no harm in mixing it up now and then

Each month, your Birchbox will either be delivered in a Box or a bag. I always keep my bags/boxes as they’re a decent size and useful for storage.

Good morning friends,

How on earth is it August already? My apologies for being AWOL the last couple of months, life took over and I haven’t been in the right head space to blog. (Again)

I have a few subscription boxes that I’ve needed to review; which I have, but then stripoed down and started over countless times.

Like I said, not in the right head space.

If you’ve got any questions about a particular product, be sure to ask!

Roccabox £5 Mystery box

Good afternoon friends,

Today we’re unboxing an absolute steal, a £5 mystery box.

The Mystery boxes are normally £10, however I was sent an email that they were now available for £5 for a limited time, with p&p for £3.95

All mystery boxes contain a selection of 5/6 items from previously monthly boxes, therefore you may receive repeat items if you are already a subscriber.

Original Nipple Balm
Deluxe mini 4ml RRP £3.99

Yes you read that right, Nipple Cream.I read it 3 times and then asked my fiance to do the same.
This Paraben, fragrance, sulphate, and silicone free cream is multi use, vegan, cruelty free and
Made from Australian free roaming sheep’s wool.

The balm is thick, but not at all sticky, with a light lemon scent. I used a little on my lips, and was pleasent enough.
My only issue with the product was not the size, but the lack of product in the tube. And the name, again, Nipple cream, why?

‘100’s of uses. Where you apply it is your business’

OhK! SOS Skin Toning Peacock Sheet Mask RRP £4
I love OhK! Products, I’ve used a variety over the past year and have always given great results.
The Korean skin care brand are vegan, do not test on animals and are always reasonably priced and funky

Mudmasky Hair Mask Scalp Treatment 3in1 Formula RRP £6.99
I’ve received this product at least 3 times over the past few years in beauty boxes. This treatment will leave your hair feeling nourished and clean with a mild fresh scent.
A decent sized tube for 2 or 3 applications (depending on your hair length), Cruelty free, paraben and sulphate free made with natural ingredients. It’s a winner all round.

SportFX Sport Stamina Long Lasting Waterproof (Black) RRP £7.99
I do not need another mascara, I have a few on the go, however I won’t pass this one, I’ll keep it handy for hot summer days when I can only bare to wear a whip of mascara and a lipbalm

Wildtree Skincare – Organic Body Scrub Melt RRP £3.99
Although this bar was well wrapped, I thought they had send a chocolate treat as I could smell this as soon as I opened the box. This bar is blended with Cacao and Shea Butter.
I loved using this bar, it gently exfoliated my skin, helps with circulation, whilst moisturizing at the same time. The scent was strong but not over powering.

Over £26.98 worth of products that are perfect for daily use, gifts, or a little extra care for only £5, I encourage you to snap this up next time the mystery boxes are released.

Roccabox March 2021 Tried and Tested

Good morning friends,

Late last week I received my March Roccabox ‘Birthday Edition’

The box arrived in its traditional pick packaging, I was expecting something a little more colourful, shimmery or celebratory as it was the birthday edition, but no matter, it was jam packed with goodies!

L’Occitane – Almond Milk Concentrate received 50ml RRP £12.50 (Full size 200ml RRP £42)
You know I love a mini…
I have a face and body cream on the go already, so have used this smoothing and firming cream on my hands. I can’t say that my skin has felt firmer after 4 days, but they have certainly been soft. This moisturizer is cruelty free, non greasy, and soaks in well.
I have a little eczema on my hand that is quite sensitive, but the cream was kind to my skin and didn’t leave any redness or itchiness.

Monuskin Professional Skincare – Illuminating Primer SPF15 Full sized £36
I do my best to remember to apply suncream daily, but like most, can often forget.
This SPF Primer is rather thick, but that’s a positive, one pump is enough for your whole face, and soaks in well. I would say £36 for a low SPF Primer is an insane amount to pay. My make up sat well for the day, however I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money as you could easily buy a similar product for half the price.

Anatomicals – Mint Hand Sanitizer & Mint Hand Cream RRP £5
Well it’s part of our day to day, so why not?
These slender tubes are perfect handbag or even pocket sized. They thankfully don’t smell like hand sanitizer, more so the dentist, which is quite a a nice scent in my opinion. Clean, sweet and fresh.

BeautyPro Hair Therapy Deep Conditioning Hair Mask RRP £5.95
This hair mask is to be ‘worn’, after hair is shampooed, rinsed and lightly patted. Twisting wet hair into a conditioning bag is alot more awkward than I expected. The bag stayed on my hair for a full 30 seconds, I retwisted, applied and secured with a hair tie.

After 20 minutes I rinsed my hair, and man, my locks feel Luscious!
The mask may be a little fiddly and heavily scented, but I’d definitely recommend this.

Marc Jacobs Beauty – Velvet Noir Mascara Deluxe sample size RRP £13.80 (Full size RRP £24)
This deluxe mini is a good size, with my favourite type of brush, big and fluffy. One coat divided and thickened my lashes well, with no smudging or flakiness through out the day.
A little on the pricey side bit definitely a decent mascara.

Bonus Product – ISOCLEAN RRP £1
I’ve run out of my make up remover, so this one was a nice treat. Not too much to say about this product, it did have a strong hair spray scent, but cleaned the brushes well, and thankfully didn’t leave a scent on them once rinsed.

Overall I loved this month’s box, practical but pampering with a little bit of everything.

What do you think of this month’s box, are there any products you’d like to try?

Roccabox February 2021

Good evening friends,

Roccaboxs box is Galentine’s Day themed – A box filled with 5 items and a extra treat for a pamper session ready for Valentine’s day with a loved one, your girls or a relaxing one to yourself.

Project Lip Plump & Colour – Shade Play RRP £14

Firstly, I adore the colour and the idea of a soft Matt finish with a little plumping.
I’ve used the Soap and glory glosses for years, they give a slight tingle and give your lips a little plump… This however was different.
2 swipes, I puckered my lips together and must have licked my lips, as seconds later my lips tongue and throat were on fire.
Not a tingle, but burning hot. I wiped the balm off my lips with a flannel, and spent the next 30 minutes rinsing out my mouth and trying to cool my lips with a flannel.
Just to confirm I do not have any allergies, nor was the skin broken. My lips, mouth and throat were hot a painful for the rest of the evening.
I am extremely disappointed with the product, even more so that I checked the Roccabox Instagram, there are dozens of others customers who have commented the same about this product. I’ve messaged Roccabox 3 times, over the past 2 weeks asking if the product is faulty, what products have been used to give the sensation. I’ve finally recieved a reply, but only asking me to instead email the support team.
I have emailed the team and .awaiting a reply – I understand that not everyone has the same experience with this product which makes me this there could be a faulty batch.

Moving on!

Crabtree & Evelyn – Soft Touch Face Foam RRP £4
This face foam has a light and fresh floral scent, I’m looking forward to lathering this up and having a pamper

Farryn Amber – Floral Oud Perfume Oil Full size RRP £18
This roll on perfume oil is gorgeous! I love a mini to try out new scents,
Sweet almond, Vanilla, Cedarwood, Jasmine Frankincense, Ylang ylang, Sweet orange. Perfect for spring
with only a few strokes across your skin, the scent of sweet honey and orange is extremely fulfilling.

Nip+Fab – No Needle Fix Eye Sheet Mask RRP £6
I haven’t used this mask yet, but love the Nip+Fab products and heard rave reviews.

Fetimans Rose Lemonade Light 250ml RRP £1 (Extra Treat)
A random but lovely little extra, I’m looking forward to my weekend, a cold glass, sat chilling with a face mask on, reading my book.

Soaper Duper – Shea Butter Body Butter RRP.£3.99 for full size (Travel size recieved)
Thick, creamy and non sticky Shea butter is Cruelty free and vegan, also smells delightful

What do you think of this month’s box?

Birchbox ‘Countdown to Midnight’

Good morning friends Happy Monday!

I have a bit of a back log of blogs to out up, and contemplated not posting a few as they are from December, but why the heck not, it’s all relative

When I ordered my first Birchbox, I wasn’t sure if I’d receive the (late) December or given early payment for the January box.

I received the December box, ‘Countdown to midnight’

My first order was discounted and cost just £7.77, I ordered on the 26th December, and received it around 10days later, I also received 2 free gifts. What more could you ask for?

Firstly, how stunning is this emerald green bag. A decent sized bag, with gold features, this plush velveteen bag is so pretty to have sat on your vanity.

EYEKO Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner – Travel size RRP £9.00 (Full size RRP £18)
I have a few liquid liners on the go, but have heard fantastic reviews about this liner. Although I do prefer a brush style tip, this felt liner has a solid point, I can see this making a cateye easy with just one swoop

Percy & Reed Up, Up & Away Root Lift Mousse 200ml £15.00
Heat protecting root lift, giving your hair a boost and a bit of flare. Perfect for a dull hair day

LAPCOS Charcoal exfoliating and cleansing pad RRP £10
‘This dual-sided pad lifts away heavy makeup and impurities from pores while rice and soybean extracts provide hydration and anti-aging benefits’
I haven’t used this cleansing pad, Im not keen on charcoal products so will pass this onto a friend.

HAAN Hand Sanitizer – Dew of Dawn
30ml £5.95
Now, when I received a hand sanitizer 2 years ago in my Glossybox, I was far from impressed. But hey, let’s get with the times. A now, essential item for leaving the house, this sanitizer smells fresh, without being too potent, with pretty and sleek packaging.

Birchbox accessory RRP £12
Dusty Pink Eyelash Curlers
These bad boys are thick and sturdy
The past month I’ve loved curling my lashes – Even if I’m having a no make up day, curling your lashes and a bit of lip balm makes me feel pretty and put together.

Chella La Vie Eyeshadow Palette RRP £19.95
I’ve never heard of this brand, but when it comes to quads, they know what they’re doing.
This vegan and cruelty free quad is ideal. My perfect deep brown, with bit a undertone of red or grey to be seen, the most gorgeous gold, cream and transition shade.

Free gifts

Nails inc gel effect kensington passage RRP £15
No doubt this summer I’ll be reaching for the brighter pinks and oranges, and although I do like the colour and the formular, it screams 2014, along with mint green nails. Anyone else?

Lord and Berry lipstick – Shade ‘ Vogue’ RRP £17 Full size (received a mini)
A beautiful vibrant shade, suitable for most skin tones. This lipstick does smudged easily, may be better paired with a lipliner and a little translucent powder.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this bag.
A good variety of products, at a extremely good price, and again, the most beautiful bag.

Roccabox ‘Go Girl’ January Edit

Good evening friends,

As I’m writing this, it’s a chilly, wet and windy Saturday night.
Tomorrow I plan to have a full on pamper session, and this box will definitely help.

The January ‘Go Girl’ box, brings you 5 products for £13.95 including P&P.

This box was heavy, I knew before I ripped it open I was in for a treat.

Skimono beauty masks – Total conditioning boot masks RRP £9.99 full size
If you haven’t tried a boot mask before, I encourage you to do so asap! I’ve tried a few from Poundland and B&M, and doubt this one will be much different, but they are great fun. Don’t panic, they won’t leave your feel peeling, instead, they’ll be soft and smooth, perfect for feet that have any dry skin or been neglected.

Mudmasky Hair mask, scalp Treatment and Miracle Shampoo RRP £21.78 full size 75ml
I have a shampoo, and a conditioning hair mask treatment on the go so will set this one aside.
I’ve used this hair mask previously, I was happy enough with it, although it did have a baby powder scent which isn’t always what you want your hair to smell like, but it does leave it healthy and strong.

Shea Bliss – Cherry Bomb Body Butter RRP £2.99 full size 250g (recieved 40g)
Well isn’t this the most adorable little jar you’ve ever seen? This body butter is filled to the brim! I rubbed a pea sized amount between my hands and covered both hands and palms completely.
A little goes a very long way. I haven’t heard of this brand before, but for the outcome, and the price, what an absolute steal!

Oh K! SOS Soothing Face Lotion RRP £8 Full size 100ml
This face lotion is lovely, with a very faint fresh scent, I’ve smoothered this over my face and neck (remember face, neck and hands show age first). I have dry and sensitive skin, so am a little skeptical at trying new face products, but this made my skin soft and nourished.

Doctors Formular – Probiotic 12 Hour Day Protection Moisturiser RRP £89 full size
I have a few skin/face products open at the moment so will put this by to use in a few months time… I have to say for that price tag, I expect extraordinary results!

In January, I’m more than happy to receive a
box that will help to replenish your possibly dry and neglected skin.

For a moment I did think that I would of liked a bit if make up, but realistically, I havent got any need for more. To be honest,I haven’t been wearing much the past 10 months, and after searching, it would probably just get tucked away in my vanity for a few months.

£12.95 for 4 full sized products? I am pretty damn happy with that! Similar to the January Birchbox, this month concentrates on replenishing your skin, and setting up a good routine for skin care and bringing back a bit of normality. No time like the present!

Roccabox Subscription – Party and Pamper Box

Good morning friends,

Boxing day I was on a hunt for a new Subscription box – I spent hours reading and watching reviews of the contents, the price, customer service and consistency of the boxes.

You will not believe how many subscriptions are out there until you start looking… Dozens!

I narrowed it down to 2, Roccabox and Birchbox.

Today we’ll be looking at Roccabox.

When I ordered it wasn’t clear if I was making an early order for the January box, or late order for December.
I received the December ‘Party and Pamper’ box but happy all the same.

Boxes cost £10 a month with £3.95 P&P, I was discounted £2 off my first box, giving a total of £11.95
I ordered on 26th December, and it arrived on 31st December, pretty impressive!

Your subscription rolls over each month, with payment taken on the 1st. You’re not tied in and can log into your account at anytime and cancel

Let’s get into it –

All items in this box are Vegan and cruelty free, apart from Batiste, which is only Vegan (which is disappointing)

SMUG – Silk material Luxury Sleep Mask RRP £15

I’ve been meaning to buy myself a silk face mask, this on is exactly what I’ve been looking for. The most beautiful pearl pink, with a elasticated band, plush, soft and comfy, perfect.

Balance Me – Vitamin C Repair Serum RRP £10 (Deluxe travel size)

‘The ultimate morning after skin remedy’, I’m here for upping my skin care game this year. Instantly my skin felt refreshed, this may of helped due to the subtle lemon grass scent which is stronger than most serums, but I think it’s lovely.

Batiste X Skinny Dip – Dry Shampoo RRP £2 (Full size)

This dry shampoo has a sweet feminine scent, works well with the traditional white powder, gave my hair a quick and easy refresh without having to massage your scalp for too long

Grace & Stella – Dead Sea Mud Mask RRP £8 (Deluxe Travel mini)

A sheet or peel off face mask always leaves my skin feeling vibrant, but I love a mud mask, it’s a deeper cleanse and gives my face the full treatment.

Bellapierre Cosmetics – Heatwave Highlighting Palette RRP £24.99 (Full sized)

Firstly I thought this was a eye shadow palette.
Secondly, ‘Heatwave’, I’d expect rich gold, bronze and orange shades.
No matter, how gorgeous are these highlighters? A picture just doesn’t do them justice
I’ll keep these by for spring and will use them as eye shadows, a soft dreamy pastel eye with a coat of mascara, effortless.

I’m thrilled with my first Roccabox – a great combination of products for under £15, fast delivery, and no ridiculous one use sample sizes.
Hopefully we’re in for the win with this box

Make up Declutter, clean and organise

Good afternoon friends, and Happy New Year!

This morning I decided to declutter and clean out my make up drawers.
Last year I wore hardly any make up, and when I did was drawn towards the same couple of palettes.
I love watching these videos on YouTube, and thought no time like the present.

I bought my make up drawers about 4 or so years ago from Amazon for around £40

6 tier/5 drawer clear make up drawers (Kardashian inspired, let’s not front), are easy to clean, store, and came with 3 sets of clear sturdy drawer dividers.

Link to similar drawers below

Cosmetic Organiser Drawers

From the bottom to the top, each drawer I’ve emptied out, wiped down, and repacked getting rid of any out of date, dried out, or products that have hardly or will never use, with a before and after photo.

1st drawer – Eyeshadow palettes

2nd Drawer – Foundation/concealer/cheek tint/highlighter palettes/bronzers/blushers

3rd drawer – Liquid matte lips and lip pencils

4th drawer Lipsticks

5th drawer Lipglosses/eyeliners/mascaras

Top Tray – Setting powders/beauty sponges/lip balms/lip scrubs/liquid highlighters

For the final drawer, I rearranged, wiped down but only got rid of 2 setting powders and added a few beauty sponges that I didn’t have room for.

All together I got rid of –
3 eye shadow palettes (one out of the picture as smashed)
3 highlighter palette
2 setting powders
7 lipsticks
5 matte Liquid lip
10 lip glosses
1 primer
1 liquid highlighter
3 eye liners
1 lip liner
7 single eyeshadows
1 single blush

I feel better knowing I’m using make up that won’t harm my skin or take up unnecassary space on my desk. (Even if I said goodbye to some of my favourite discontinued NYX lipsticks)

Have you had a declutter this New Year? If so, what did you clean out?

Blogmas 2020, subscription box

Blogmas – Autumn/Fall FabfitFun

Good afternoon friends,

Today we’ll be reviewing the Autumn/Fall FabFitFun box

I meant to do this month’s ago, but kept forgetting, and then accidentally deleted my note on my phone with my blog post, so it’s a little later than any expected. No worries!

FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription box where you can receive, 8 full sized home, fitness and beauty products.

1 seasonal box is delivered every 3 months for $49.99 (around £60 including delivery to the UK), with a value of over £200

You have the option to pay for the yearly subscription of $179.99 for the 4 boxes.

I have decided to pay seasonally, and used a £10 off discount code (just Google it they’re available everywhere).

Each box comes with a magazine explaining what charity they are working with that season, interviews, product breakdowns, and a few discount code cards for your first order, for wines, hello fresh, and florists.

‘Basic Members’ like myself, can customized 3 of my 8 products.

For each customised item, you are given around 4 options to select the item you want.

You do have the option to hand pick a few more of the items, although I think it takes a bit of the fun out of it, as I love a surprise.

I have seen comments on the forum and YouTube videos of customers complaining about the products theyve received, but at the same time, if you have the option to chose a few of the select items, and you decide not to, then you can only blame yourself for being disappointed.

For my first customizable item, I had the choice of a back pack, tote bag, hair curlers or the styling cream.

I didn’t realise certain items aren’t able to ship to the UK, I was so bummed out, but then watched a few YouTube videos and confirmed id made the right choice.

SACHAJUAN Styling Cream + Finish Cream RRP $65.00

‘Make your hair soft and silky with the styling cream, then give your hair a defined texture with the finish cream’

My hair is long, thick, and curly, prone to alot of frizz.

I have found my hair to be a bit flat and dry recently, with greasy roots and curls not in tact.

I am not one to spend $65 on hair products, however, these are hands down the best styling and finishing creams I have ever used.

SOIA & KYO Woven Scarf with Fringe RRP £85

This 66” x 52” scarf-cardigan is versatile, to be used as a scarf, or to throw over your shoulders to keep you wrapped up and warm.

Vitamasques Multivitamin Mask Set RRP $30.00

These nourishing fibre sheet masks are filled with vitamins B3, B5, B6, C, and E.

Lay back for 20minutes and relax, and use and excess product from the pack to Smith over your neck.

Masontops® Glass Water Bottle with Neoprene in Turquoise RRP $35.00

I often, like many forget to stay hydrated. Holding up to 20 ounces, easy to clean, removed the waste of plastic bottles, with removable and reversible teal/black sleeve, I love this glass mason jar bottle.

8 Other Reasons Runway Clip Trio RRP $32.00

These hair clips are absolutely beautiful. 18k gold plated lead-free, nickel-free alloy metal, resin, I’m not really one to wear hair clips, but with these beauties Ill save them for spring and give them a go.

Voesh Pedicure in a Box Duo – Pumpkin Spice RRP $20.00

These 8 sachets of Sea Salt Soak, Sugar Scrub, Mud Masque, and Massage Cream are Vegan, Organic, Cruelty Free, Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, Phthalate Free, Aluminum Free, Gluten Free

Made in South Korea, these foot packs leave you relaxed with super soft, delicious smelling feet. Such a lovely idea for a pamper.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Treatment Masque RRP $16.00

I wish you could smell how delightful this hair masque is. ‘Apply to freshly shampooed hair and leave for 3 to 5 minutes and rinse’, leaves hair soft and glossy without weighing it down.

The Beauty Crop Glow Milk in Blind Date RRP $19.50

I’m not overly keen on highlighters. I know they’re ‘all the rage’ nowadays, but I don’t see the hype. I may use this as a highlighter eyeshadow duo to get more of of the product. No doubt the shimmer is beautiful, as well as being Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, Phthalate Free and Aluminum Free

I absolutely loved my first FabFitFit box, it seemed a little pricey at first, but I’d much rather pay for 1 decent seasonal box, rather than 3 monthly ‘so so’ boxes that are filled with delux mini’s

I was shocked at the total of the box when I added it up, although It is worth keeping in mind that as any subscription box, well any products you buy in general, the price will always been increased slightly due to RRP

Total value $302.50

For £60 I’m thrilled with my items
