Guinness Beef Stew

Good evening friends,

It worked!
If you read my last blog post you’ll know I was toying with the idea of making this dish in my Dutch oven from my Autumn Fab Fit Fun box.

This was the first time I made this one pot, Dutch oven stew, I was intrigued but unsure of the outcome.
Oh my goodness, this stew was thick, tender and absolutely delicious with a smokey sweetness.
Mix it up this season and give it a go

Prep time 15 mins
Cooking time 1 hour and 20 minutes
Serving 4

Ingredients
• 220ml (1/2 can) Guinness
• 400g cubed beef in 2inch cubes
• 50g dark chocolate
• 3 large carrots, peeled and cut into small slices/chunks
• 2 large parsnips, peeled and cut into small slices/chunks
• 2 large potatoe washed and quartered
• 3 heaped Tbsp plain flour
• 1 large onion, diced
• 2 cloves garlic
• 2 Tbsp Olive or vegetable oil
• 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 Tbsp tomato paste
• 1 cup beef stock
• 1 Tbsp soy sauce
• 1 Tbsp light brown sugar
• 1 Tbsp fresh thyme (chopped)
• 4 sprigs of parsley (chopped)
• Salt and pepper to season

Instructions
• Heat oil over med/high heat in a dutch oven.
• Cook beef cubes for 4 minutes, then set beef aside on plate.

• Saute the onion and crushed garlic for • 3 minutes. Then stir in the tomato paste, and turn down to a low heat to simmer

• On the set aside beef, seive the flour onto the cubes to combine the juices and flour, this will give a paste like consistency.

• Next add Guinness, stock, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar and chocolate, to the Dutch oven and stir well for 5 minutes.
• Add the flour coated beef and stir well.

• Pop on the lid and leave to cook on a low to medium heat for 40 minutes.

• Gradually fold in the carrots, parsnips, potatoes, thyme, and  parsley.
Cover and simmer for an additional hour.

Serve this hearty flavoursome stew and enjoy either alone or with crusty buttered bread.

Blogmas 2020, subscription box

Blogmas – Autumn/Fall FabfitFun

Good afternoon friends,

Today we’ll be reviewing the Autumn/Fall FabFitFun box

I meant to do this month’s ago, but kept forgetting, and then accidentally deleted my note on my phone with my blog post, so it’s a little later than any expected. No worries!

FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription box where you can receive, 8 full sized home, fitness and beauty products.

1 seasonal box is delivered every 3 months for $49.99 (around £60 including delivery to the UK), with a value of over £200

You have the option to pay for the yearly subscription of $179.99 for the 4 boxes.

I have decided to pay seasonally, and used a £10 off discount code (just Google it they’re available everywhere).

Each box comes with a magazine explaining what charity they are working with that season, interviews, product breakdowns, and a few discount code cards for your first order, for wines, hello fresh, and florists.

‘Basic Members’ like myself, can customized 3 of my 8 products.

For each customised item, you are given around 4 options to select the item you want.

You do have the option to hand pick a few more of the items, although I think it takes a bit of the fun out of it, as I love a surprise.

I have seen comments on the forum and YouTube videos of customers complaining about the products theyve received, but at the same time, if you have the option to chose a few of the select items, and you decide not to, then you can only blame yourself for being disappointed.

For my first customizable item, I had the choice of a back pack, tote bag, hair curlers or the styling cream.

I didn’t realise certain items aren’t able to ship to the UK, I was so bummed out, but then watched a few YouTube videos and confirmed id made the right choice.

SACHAJUAN Styling Cream + Finish Cream RRP $65.00

‘Make your hair soft and silky with the styling cream, then give your hair a defined texture with the finish cream’

My hair is long, thick, and curly, prone to alot of frizz.

I have found my hair to be a bit flat and dry recently, with greasy roots and curls not in tact.

I am not one to spend $65 on hair products, however, these are hands down the best styling and finishing creams I have ever used.

SOIA & KYO Woven Scarf with Fringe RRP £85

This 66” x 52” scarf-cardigan is versatile, to be used as a scarf, or to throw over your shoulders to keep you wrapped up and warm.

Vitamasques Multivitamin Mask Set RRP $30.00

These nourishing fibre sheet masks are filled with vitamins B3, B5, B6, C, and E.

Lay back for 20minutes and relax, and use and excess product from the pack to Smith over your neck.

Masontops® Glass Water Bottle with Neoprene in Turquoise RRP $35.00

I often, like many forget to stay hydrated. Holding up to 20 ounces, easy to clean, removed the waste of plastic bottles, with removable and reversible teal/black sleeve, I love this glass mason jar bottle.

8 Other Reasons Runway Clip Trio RRP $32.00

These hair clips are absolutely beautiful. 18k gold plated lead-free, nickel-free alloy metal, resin, I’m not really one to wear hair clips, but with these beauties Ill save them for spring and give them a go.

Voesh Pedicure in a Box Duo – Pumpkin Spice RRP $20.00

These 8 sachets of Sea Salt Soak, Sugar Scrub, Mud Masque, and Massage Cream are Vegan, Organic, Cruelty Free, Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, Phthalate Free, Aluminum Free, Gluten Free

Made in South Korea, these foot packs leave you relaxed with super soft, delicious smelling feet. Such a lovely idea for a pamper.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Treatment Masque RRP $16.00

I wish you could smell how delightful this hair masque is. ‘Apply to freshly shampooed hair and leave for 3 to 5 minutes and rinse’, leaves hair soft and glossy without weighing it down.

The Beauty Crop Glow Milk in Blind Date RRP $19.50

I’m not overly keen on highlighters. I know they’re ‘all the rage’ nowadays, but I don’t see the hype. I may use this as a highlighter eyeshadow duo to get more of of the product. No doubt the shimmer is beautiful, as well as being Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, Phthalate Free and Aluminum Free

I absolutely loved my first FabFitFit box, it seemed a little pricey at first, but I’d much rather pay for 1 decent seasonal box, rather than 3 monthly ‘so so’ boxes that are filled with delux mini’s

I was shocked at the total of the box when I added it up, although It is worth keeping in mind that as any subscription box, well any products you buy in general, the price will always been increased slightly due to RRP

Total value $302.50

For £60 I’m thrilled with my items

Hauls

Autumn/Fall Haul 2020

Good evening friends,

What a wet and windy, yet wonderful autumn night.

Autumn/Fall for me is all about Comfort, your home and clothes become a little cosier, embracing the dark nights and chill in the air, and having some much needed downtime.

Here’s a few of my autumn essentials.

Home

Beanies Coffee 50ml £1.99 each (Lidl)

Until last year I never understood the hype of ‘Pumpkin Spiced Lattes’ – and then I got hooked.

I’m not really one for flavoured coffees, but they give that extra warmth this time of year.
Whilst in my local Lidl, I spotted the Beanies Pumpkin Spice instant coffee.

Oh my! It’s been just over a week and I’ve finished a jar. I went back to grab another jar, and picked up Cinder toffee, Caramel popcorn, Nutty hazelnut, Irish cream

Candles £3 each – Gingerbread Cookie and winter Spice (B&M)

I’m all about candles, each season brings a different scent. This year I hunted high and low for spiced candles. Finally I found them in B&M, and how cute are they? And yes, due to the many unsuccessful trips trying to find them, I picked up 3 of each.

Fashion

Charity shop
George cream short tench coat (New with tags) £5
BM Collection heavy blush pink coat £5

I, like many, love blacks, browns and deep reds for this season, I decided to mix up it up and look out for a few softer shades, and hit the jackpot.

The cream trench coat is a must, simple and chic, but the pink coat, she’s my favourite. Pairing it with a pink handbag, I’d be giving off Umbridge vibes, but I’m okay with that!

Charity shop – Next Knitwear £2 New with tags

I love a dusty Rose pink, especially with black jeans or LBD

Lily Morgan £5 (everything five pounds.com)
A simple black cotton jumper with glitter trim jumper, jazzes up the one of the must haves for this season. This jumper is so warm and fuzzy, it’s become a new favourite

Old Navy £5 (everything 5 pounds.com)

I bought this long cream jumper about 3 sizes to big. It is huge and just hangs off me, it’s so soft and just the right thickness. Not really one to wear out as it is so baggy, but at home with some fluffy socks is just perfect.

Pep&Co £12
This Hound tooth dress is perfect for winter. Possibly even a comfy Christmas day look?

Pep&Co £6
And once I saw the dress, I just had to buy the skirt!

Beauty

Vaseline Intensive care Cocoa Radiant
Body lotion 400ml £3.99

I have dry and sensitive skin, with eczema which flairs up more in the cooler months. This lotion helps to sooth and moisturize my skin without leaving it stinging or feeling greasy.

Poundland Lipscrub ‘Mint to be’ £1

Nothing worse that chapped lips, especially when rocking a dark lip. Pounlands Lipscrub smells, and tastes great, and works just as well as names brands.

NYX Midnight Muse £3.99

I picked up this lipstick thinking it was black, but it is actually a deep navy. Not a shade I’ve worn before but definalty one I’ll be trying this season.

Maybelline Vivid matte Liquid £7.99 (TK Maxx)
20 matte shades for £7.99, that equals 0.39p each. Bargain! Plus all the shades are beautiful, the bright purples and orange may be a little tricky to pull off but I’ll do my best!

Keep an eye out for my vivid matte Lip challenge later this month

What autumn goodies have you purchased recently? And what does Autumn/fall mean to you?

Glossybox, monthly favourites

November 2019 Glossybox

Good evening friends!

My glossybox came at the right time, my goodness I have not been well this past week… but it’s that time of year, so let’s just power through it!

It’s a heavy one this month and back to the classic baby pink box!

Last months box was possibly my favourite, and I didn’t know what to expect for this month… but, for Novemver, we have been treated to 4 full sized products, 1 deluxe mini, and 2 extra treats.

Hask Exotoics – Hair Oil (Full size) RRP £2.49

Yes I shoved this under my nose straight away, I love hair care, especially oils. I washed my hair last night, and ran the oil through my ends once it was towel dried. I slept with damp hair and woke up to absolutely gorgeous soft and glossy hair. I strongly reccomend this little beauty!

Mudmasky – Leave me on Winter (Full size) Mask RRP £9.90

Exactly what I need, my skin has been so dry recently, and this should do the trick. A rich mask that isn’t too thick and heavy when applying. I applied a few dabs this morning on my T zone before my make up, and has kept my skin feeling soft and nourished whilst my make up staying looking fresh.

Cetaphil – Gentle Skin cleanser (Deluxe mini) RRP £1.10

This tiny little bottle is adorable, even if I didnt know what it was at first. I have quite a few cleansers at the moment and feel like it’s a bit of a waste opening another one, so I will pass this along to a friend.

Rituals – The Ritual of Ayurveda Soothing Hand Balm (Full size) RRP £9.90

Oh damn! This hand balm is so thick and rubs in without them feeling greasy, just nourished and soft. The scent is amazing, The packaging is just stunning

Also, the perfect size for my handbag!

Offblak – Fruit Tea’s £0.89 each Extra Treat!

I love a cuppa tea, in every variety! These teas were a lovely little treat.

I’m not a massive fan of ginger, but had to give one of these a whirl, so I tried the ‘Brighten Up’ – Forest Fruits and Ginger.

I know you didnt need to see half a dozen photos… but I think its mesmerising to watch. And it tasted D licious! I like my tea sweet, and this has such a light fruity sweet blend.

Kandi Cosmetics – Glow up primer and setting spray (Full size) RRP £20.00

This was the first product I locked my eyes on, but the last I opened as thought it would excite me the most, just by looking at the size (let’s keep it clean people!)

Wow, just wow! This is beautiful! I love a bit of sparkle any time of day.

This primer/setting spray is perfect for this season, one spritz will leave a light misty glow on your skin, just enough to give you that seasonal sparkle, but subtle enough that you dont look like a disco ball!

What did you think of this months Glossybox?

Thank you for reading!

Autumn Favourites

Good evening friends!

With the evening’s getting darker quicker, cold weather rolling in fast and having to add that extra layer before you leave the house, I wanted to share with you my Autumn Favourites.

Make up

Vegas Nay by Lamia – TK Maxx – £9.99

The beautiful box caught my eye, and the contents inside did not disappoint.

I hadn’t heard of this brand before. But £9.99 for these stunning products, I am hooked!

This eyeshadow palette is incredible!

I’ve used this almost every day for the past month to create looks that are subtle, smokey and saulty and a full on glamourous for a night out. Hopefully I’ll be able to find this pallette again in TK Maxx, as it can be so difficult to find just one pallette that has all the colours you need all in one.

Who doesn’t love a touch of sparkle this time of year?

This nude lipstick is a tad lighter shade than I’d normally go for, but the colour is beautiful. A perfect creamy blend that has a long stay and won’t dry out your lips.

Bathing

American cream sundae conditioner bar £8

I’m slowly making my way through bar shampoos, conditioners, and soaps to see which ones suit me best. this conditioner bar smells lovely, and for £8, the size has reduced really well considering I’ve been using it about 3 times a week of a month.

Bathbomb, Mindfully Made, £2.50

This white bathbomb is beautiful! Who wouldnt love a glittery snowball? Taking the bath bomb to the next level, I’m definitely going to have to stock up on these for winter!

Spearmint and Patchouli Soap, Mindfully Made £4

I’ve tried a few of the Shambolic Soaps, and this ones just gorgeous. With all of these soaps they leave you bathroom with the freshest scents. Like the others I’ve used, this is fantastic for dry and sensative skin, and leaves you feeling clean and refreshed.

Clothing

Camel check Skirt, Primark, £8

I love this preppy, ‘Clueless’/Gossip Girl inspired look. Perfect with thick black tights, and a and a snuggly jumper.

Hearts Jumper, Peacock £5.

How adorable is this jumper?
It was originally £18, which I would of paid for it as it’s cute and comfy for autumn/winter.

Stone Handbag, Mia £8

The Mia sale got me again (shocker). But £8 for this gorgeous light grey handbag, how could I walk away?

Mixed print dress, Yoyelle’s £10

Now, this dress is not me at all, and that’s kind of what I love about it!

When I first saw it on he hanger I thought, ‘man that alot going on!’ I had a closer look and realised I love the shape and the colours, just not crazy on the design. Whilst queuing to try it on, I met a lady in the line who complimebet my great taste (she was holding the same dress). It turned out she picked up a large, and I a Medium,so we swapped. The large fit perfectly round my chest, and hips, a little loose on the waist but that’s what belts are for!

I’m planning to par this with black knee high suede boots and a leather jacket.

Ribbed dress, Primark £8.

Simple, versatile and chic, perfect for all occasions and weather.

Home

Stitch hot water bottle, Primark £8

I saw this hot water bottle on the primark website and hunted high and low for one in store! He’s perfect for those cold autumn nights.

Food

Eat Real Hummus chips £0.89p per bag

How? How have I never seen these before? This woman LOVES hummus. Whilst at the till of my local green grocers I saw these out the corner of my eye. Yes I ate 2 bags in 1 day (the bags are only half full), and no I didnt feel guilty, although I did pack up a 3rd bag and stopped myself. These little shells of magic…where have you been all my snacking life?

Thank you for reading guys, what are some of your autumn favourites?

Glossybox, Hauls

Glossybox October 2019

Good evening friends, and happy Glossybox day!

This month we were sent either a Angel or Devil addition of the box. I recieved the box I crossed my fingers for… The devil box.

First off this box is gorgeous. I do love the original baby pink, but this box just screams Kaya!

I have recieved 5 full size products, and an ‘extra treat’

Whittard of Chelsea – Sticky Toffee Pudding White Hot Chocolate – RRP £2.00

I have never tried a hot chocolate of that description! It sounds sickly, but delicious!
And the packaging is awesome. Day of the dead themed. I love it. I was thinking about a glass of wine in the bath, but what the hell, bring on the hot chocolate!

And a 20% off voucher when you spend over £25 in store or online.

McoBeauty – Eye define crayon liner – Full size – RRP £15.00

I know that some people arent crazy about receiving black eye liners in beauty boxes, and to be fair, I agree at times. But when you recieve one that’s the perfect consistency to what you use/want, then bring it on!
My only question for this liner is that even though its soft, which I love, on the box under directions it states ‘ if the tip of the liner feels a little blunt, sharpen it with the built in sharpener’. What does that mean? Because I cant see one? I might just be being silly?!

STY London – Devil Velvet Touch Palette – Full size – RRP £15.00

Could they of made a more autumnal looking palette? I think not! These colours are amazing, With a mix of shimmer and matte, these shades are just delicious for autumn!

Lord & Berry – Maximatte Lipstick Crayon – Devil Red – Full size – RRP £15.00

Man, this is creamy! I do love a good red statement lip. This soft and chunky lip crayon helps to accentuate the perfect statement look.

Que Bella beauty – Plumping Gold Peel off Mask – Full Size – RRP £2.49

Yes yes yes. How glamorous is this mask? This plumping, exfoliating and tightening mask contains real gold powder and organic rose water.

Bubble T Cosmetics – Devils dust Foaming Bath Powder – Full size – RRP £4.99

This’ll be my first time using a foaming bath powder.
Did anyone ever used to use those little disposable bath Pearl’s? If you know what I mean then you’ll know the scent, and this is exactly what this smells like. The scents described as fruity, but I’d say it’s a soft rose.

I havent heard of any of the brands before, but love them all. The last couple of months theres been a few products that I was underwhelmed and unsure about, but this box is perfectly themed, and quite possibly, my favourite Glossybox so far!

Glossybox, you did good!

Did you purchase a glossybox this month? If so, which one did you recieve?

Glossybox

Glossybox September 2019

Good morning friends!

My apologies for the lack of posts the past couple of weeks.

It has been ridiculously hectic since the end of August… I’ll catch you all up to speed soon!

Any who, let’s get back into it!

Yesterday I recieved my September Glossybox, my goodness I ripped it open in seconds. I was just a tad excited.

This months box was called the ‘Delicious box’.

Each product was ‘food inspired’, which is very unique, but not quite what I expected for the September box. I’ll explain later.

Colgate Max White – Charcole Whitenin Toothpaste (Full size) RRP £4

Now, I dont want to sound ungrateful, but, a toothpaste in a beauty box isn’t really at the top of my list. Yes I’ll use the product, but I’ve used a variety of charcole toothpastes, and have found that the pricier products aren’t any better than the own brand ones. Ah well, you always need tooth paste!

Mitchell and Peach – Flora No 1 fine edition Eau de Parfum (Deluxe mini) RRP £29.75

Now, who doesn’t love a mini parfum for your handbag?! This isn’t a scent I would normally lean towards, as at first I found the fennel a little over powering, but, I can imagine this scent being perfect for long wear, and would last you the day! I’ll definitely give this a go.

Mayy – Banana setting powder (Full size) £15

I’ve been meaning to try out a setting powder for ages, so I’m thrilled to of recieved one in this months box. I’ve seen other’s be rather heavy handed when applying this, and I always feared that it won’t blend in. I’ve been wearing quite simple and minimal make up recently (my skins been acting up), but I’m keen to give this a go on a full face for a special occasion or night out.

Delhicious Body – Original Black Tea body scrub (Full size) RRP £7.95

This 100% natural exfoliator is a dream! I love love loved using this, my skins feels gorgeous! No doubt I’ll re purchase this item or simular, in preparation for the cooler months approaching. You can never have too many products that soften and protect your skin.

Carex – Hand gel (Full size) £1.55

I recieved a cleansing hand gel in April’s box which was all well and good, but I hope that Glossybox dont make a habit of including one in their boxes every other month. A variety of cleansing and antibacterial hand gels can be purchased cheaply in supermarkets, and stores like Poundland or B&M bargains. Although its handy, It’s a little disappointing to recieve a product like this.

Palmers – Coconut Oil Formula deep Conditioning Protein Pack (Full size) £2.49

The last product is by far my favourite. You know this girl loves anything creamy, that leaves you feeling nourished and smells amazing. My hair… goodness, my hair feels glossy and has one heck of a shine to it. Although I have long thick hair, I only used half of the packet, I’m thrilled, that never happens! I normally have to squeeze out every drop just to get a bit of decent coverage. I cant wait to pick up a couple more of these!

Overall, I was pretty pleased with this months box. My only issue is that, if youre going to theme a box, then maybe tailor it to the month its attached to.

I was hoping for maybe a red, brown, purple or orange make up product, or maybe somthing like a spiced or sweet lip scrub in preparation for Autumn/Fall? As soon as September rolls around, I think of crunchy leaves, knitted clothes, and evenings in with hot chocolate.

I think Glossybox missed a trick here.

It may sound cliche, but some things are just perfect for the change of season.

What do you think? Would you prefere a seasonal themed box?

The Ultimate Autumn Coat

Happy Sunday and good evening all.

From September through to February, I tend to wear alot of Reds, greens, brows, blacks and Navy’s. I have my favourite black winter coat which is warm and hooded, but I’ve been looking for something lighter in weight and colour.

There’s one staple piece for my autumn/winter wardrobe that I’ve been looking for since late July, one that’s been a key piece in fashion since 1850 in Britain, The Classic Trench Coat.

Image BBC

Earlier this week, whilst in Lymington, I fancied a mooch in the local charity shops. I had a little look in Marie Curie, and just as I was about to leave, I saw it.
The perfect size, colour and condition. The coat was squeezed in-between a dozen or so other coats. My belted cream trench coat.

I tried it on, and she fit like a glove.
The coat was barely worn, with all of i buttons, and food quality, from non other than Marks and Spencers. I purchased the coat immediately, for the bargain price of £12!

My coat was perfect for what I wanted as it has buttoned pockets, single breasted, a belted waist, sits just across my thighs, light but warm fabric, and iconic.

Humphrey Bogart, Casablanca (1942) Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

Leighton Meester, Emma Stone, Margot Robbie.

This coat is a timesless classic. It is one of those pieces that can be worn as smart or casual, with dresses, jeans, flats or heels. This coat, when buttoned or tied can help to accentuate your Hour Glass figure, or to give you that silhouette. It can equally look just as stylish, worn open and untied.

Let me know what key pieces you have in your wardrobe for this Autumn and Winter.

Until next time lovely people.
