Blogmas Day 30 – The last to do list of 2018

Day 30 – The last to do list of 2018

Today was a day of cleaning and organising.

A productive and oddly relaxing day. I find it eases my mind when I can wrote a list and gradually tick off items in the list through out the day.

  • Grocery shopping for vegetables for my thick vegetable soup.
  • Buy Bubbly for the New year’s toast
  • Dinner for New Year’s Eve
  • Wash the bedding
  • Buy a new pocket diary
  • Book for medical appointments
  • Write down a list of goals for next year
  • Food shopping for the week
  • Rearrange and sort out the kitchen cupboards

What have you done to prepare for the new year?

Blogmas Day 29 – Out with the old, in with the new

Day 29 – Out with the old, in with the new

There’s nothing like getting organized for the new year.

I was lucky enough to receive some lovely make up gifts this christmas, and also purchased a few myself.

It’s important to keep your make up and beauty products clean and fresh. Every couple of months I like to check everything, and throw away make up if its dirty, casing is cracked, or hasn’t got protection that it’s properly.

On most products, there will be a tiny cream jar symbol to indicate how many months the item will last for.

If I can’t see is symbol and don’t remember if I bought it in the past 6-12 months then I’ll throw it. It’s not point holding onto a product that could cause harm to your face for the sake of a couple of quid.

I like to check for spares before buying new products, I believe you can never have too many nude lipsticks, but still, this may seem like an obvious thing to do, but the amount of times I’ve bought products, especially, eye shadow pallets and then realised I already own similar shades.

Also, don’t be afraid to swatch products before you buy them, and if there aren’t any testers in display, then ask an employee if there’s another you can you. There’s no harm in asking.

Here are my fallen products…

My beautiful Sophora lip crayons.
They were given to me as a gift last November, and since I couldn’t see a clear label of how long they would last I decided to throw them away… It just has to be done.

How often do you clear.out your make up and beauty products and what rules do you stand by?

Blogmas Day 28. A dear friend from a far

Day 28. A dear friend from a far

I wrote this post with such love, thinking about a one of a kind woman I’ve known for almost 14 years.
My friend Jo lives in Manchester, and with families, relationships, work and life in general, we only see each other a few times a year

We met at Sainsburys, as she insisted on her buying dinner, and me cooking it.
Since I’d just finished work, I left her in the lounge, with a cup of tea and Netflix whilst I went for a shower and washed off my make up.

Now, I I could of got dressed up and made an effort with my appearance, but we’re so comfortable around each other, she doesn’t care.
I rock up in clean pjs and wet hair, and start to detangle my hair and whilst we put the world to rights.
Hours conversation that seemed to pass in minutes.

We have those cut throat discussions, with tough love answers and deep loaded questions.
We don’t hold back, as we want to support each other in the best ways possible, and are always 100% honest with each other.

We have the kind of relationship where we can open up to each other so naturally, and feel as though a weight has been lifted once we communicate.

One of those few friends who you could not of spoken to for a month, and then call them at 3 in the morning, knowing that they’ll pick up everytime. And for that, I feel extremely lucky.

Spend more time with the ones you care about, and less with the ones that are a chore to keep the friendship afloat.
They just aren’t your people.
And that’s fine.

Blogmas Day 27th – Sleeping Beauty

Day 27 – Sleeping Beauty

As you may of seen in a previous Blogmas post, I went to the ballet for the first time and it was wonderful.

I started looking into what other ballets we’re performing, and to my surprise, I found Sleeping Beauty.

Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney Film. I’ve been wanting to see The Sleeping Beauty Ballet since I was a little girl.

The story, the dance, Tchaikovsky’s music, it’s all so beautiful.

This evening my partner and I travelled to The Portsmouth Guildhall Hall but the evening show.

We sat second row from the front, in the middle. As we were waiting for the show to start, we could see the dancers feet under the curtains.

From start to end, I was full of emotion, and thankful that I’d been able to experience such Joy with my partner.

I admire the dancers for their hard work and such talent, so see them glide across the room with such sophisticatation and precision was fascinating.

I look forward to going to the ballet again in the near future.

Blogmas Day 26 – Boxing Day Sales

Day 26 – Boxing Day Sales

I’m not normally one to do the boxing day sales but the girls wanted to go into Newport to have a look at so I thought I might as well have a bit more festive family time.

There wasn’t really anything in particular that I needed so the night before I had a look at Superdrug Marks and Spencer’s and Boots online because the last thing I want to do is to go into a hectic shop and walk round in circles.

If you didn’t want it in the first place, then you’re not saving money.
I had a rough idea of what I wanted, and got better deals than expected.

I met the girls at 10am sharp at Boots, and my goodness you’d think they were giving away stock!
I passed dozens of women with armfuls of gift sets. You’d think they were buying for every family member and acquaintance they’ve ever had!

Although I knew what I wanted to buy, the store was heaving, and we shuffled around like fish in a tin with the occasion ‘scuse me’, ‘sorry’, ‘thank you’, and a few rude grunts from women who should of stayed at home and shopped online. It’s going to be busy, you will get squished and pushed. Just grab your bargins and get on with it!
Each of my Boots products were half price.

Alas! I managed to get to the soap and glory section. The first item I bought was The duo I bought contained The righteous Body Butter and The flake away body Polish.
I managed to pick up two of the same gift sets, as they are perfect handbag and travel sizes.
These gift sets were reduced to £2.50 each.

Next I picked up two of the Disney, Mad Beauty Princess face masks. I didn’t know if they would still have them in stock, but funnily enough they had my two favorite Princess’s left. I picked up the Aurora, lavender, relaxing and calming mask, and The Jasmine ‘A whole new world’ antioxidant green tea, refresh and revitalise mask.
I’d wanted to buy these previously but they’re so overpriced for a gimmicky face mask. At £2 each that’s more acceptable, and I thought I would grab those especially as I’m such a massive Disney.

Like I said, I’d had a look the night before at gift sets, and a few Laura Ashley and Joules products caught my eye, not for myself but for my mum and mother in law for mother’s day. I believe it’s always worth looking ahead, and to buying gifts when they are at a good price. I bought two of the sets at £5 each.

I was looking for a the Sleek nude lipkit but it was sold out. Instead I found a gorgeous mixed metal and nude lip kit by Profusion Cosmetics.
The kit comes with a matte lip cream, matte lip liner and a metal lip cream gloss.
These products have a fantastic wear, and don’t dry out your lips. If I’d of known they were this good I would of grabbed a couple of other shades.
I think this may be my New Year’s Eve lip look.

I then made my way to Superdrug, where the shelves were almost bare. I noticed that there was a advent calendar push to the back of the shelf by itself and it was a shocking 99p!
That price for a 12 day Advent calendar? Why not?
The Flutter products were simple yet pretty. The shades were neutural in warm and cool brown and peachy tones.

Who doesn’t need another hand cream? This lightly scented cream was the perfect size for my handbag, and perfect price at 49p!

I purchased a lovely dove gift set for myself. The set contained the go fresh pomegranate and lemon body wash, exfoliating body scrub which is also pomegranate seeds and shea butter scent and then it came with a body scrub mitt. This was only £3

This was my only purchase from Marks and Spencer’s. I had wanted to buy a few larger candles but they didn’t have any that I liked the look of.
These glittery red tea lights caught my eye. I’m like a magpie, anything shiny!
The scent is rich and warm, and fills the room beautifully.

The last and final purchase was by accident. Who could forget Primark? A tanned bag, left hanging on a rail for a bargin price of £5, discounted from £15. Can one have too many handbags? Never

What did you purchase in the Boxing Day sales?

Blogmas Day 24 – Christmas Eve

Day 24 – Christmas Eve.

This morning I feel terrible, but after a full day of relaxing, I’ve decided that I can’t cancel anymore plans, and as Elizabeth Taylor says,

‘ pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together’

The drink was ‘Hot chocolate’, but I did rock a bold berry lip for a Costa Date with an old school friend.

We sat for a few hours and put the world to right. There’s nothing like catching up with an old friend to help you forget that you’re feeling unwell, and to get you in the Christmas Spirit.

In the evening, my partner and I joined our friend Matt and his family at the local pub, for a few pre Christmas drinks.

The pub was filled with laughter, glasses being raised and people dancing.

The evenings entertainment, our friend Luke, was fantastic and had everyone tapping their feet or dancing, either way there wasn’t one person who wasn’t singing along to every song.

Luke stood independently, singing and playing his guitar to classic tracks, Christmas tunes and current hits.

I always admired performers who can engage with the crowd and give you that thrill.

A relaxed but perfect way to spend Christmas Eve, and although we had a few drinks, the real buzz was the connection with the people around us through the music.

How did you spend your Christmas Eve? Do you have Christmas Eve traditions?

Blogmas Day 23 – I Surrendered to sleep

Day 23 – I Surrendered to sleep

This post below was written on the 23rd,
Not the most exciting post but I thought I’d post it anyways as it fits in with my blogmas posts.

Today has been a boring and miserable Sunday.
I had a day and evening full of plans with friends and family but chose to cancel as I think I have the flu.
I’ve never felt so weak and unwell before.
I expect since today has been my first day to relax, my body has decided to allow myself to feel tired and sleep.
I feel so drained.
I’ve spent most of the day sleeping, or having YouTube videos playing in the background whilst I rest in the dark as the light hurts my eyes.
I’ve had plenty of fluids, cold and flu capsuals, lemon and honey hot drinks and vitamins.
Here hoping I feel better tomorrow for Christmas Eve.

Blogmas Day 22 – Recharge those batteries!

Day 22 – Recharge those batteries!

For the past couple of weeks everyone around me has been ill. Either with cold, flu, chesty coughs, the lot! I’ve had a mixture of all.

Today is my last day at work, it was hectic but flew by thankfully.

I was suppose to have a couple of Christmas drinks with the girls this evening but my body isn’t allowing it, I can hardly stay awake.

It’s such a shame as I’ve been looking forward to his night out for week!

I’ve spent this evening drinking tea and making lists of what I have to do to be ready for the New Year.

I feel terrible but will treat myself to a long bubble bath, watch more Dynasty (I only discovered it this evening and I’m hooked!) I’ve decided to have a pamper and hopefully wake up tomorrow morning, energized for a day of fun with friends and family!
